The other morning over breakfast, my friend Chrissy, who happens to be a Master Gardener, told me that she has some Shirley Poppies growing in her garden. I love poppies, but I just had to get over and photograph them when she told me that this particular poppy blooms once a year for only about three days. Like a small tease from Mother Nature, of what we have to look forward to in the coming summer months…
And of course, I couldn’t resist photographing the rest of her luscious garden… what a beautiful gift she has to offer this world. Thanks, Chrissy.
“She loves blood-red poppies for a garden to walk in.
In a loose white gown she walks
and a new child tugs at cords in her body.
Her head to the west at evening when the dew is creeping,
A shudder of gladness runs in her bones and torsal fiber:
She loves blood-red poppies for a garden to walk in.”
