Yay! My first blog post since I’ve moved into our new home in Seattle!
I was so happy to return to Bremerton, however, to do Quinton’s first portraits. You might remember his parents’ fun maternity pictures (view them here) back when he was just a little bump in his mama’s belly… Well, he didn’t stay a little bump for long; sweet baby Q decided to come on his own terms, one week late, entering this world at a whopping 9 pounds, 5 ounces and 21 inches long! So, even though I did his first portraits at only twelve days old, he was all plump & ready for some photo love.
Their original request for their maternity portraits was to do them at a library, and for some reason that I am unable to recollect, that plan didn’t pan out. BUT, lately I have been hugely inspired by the photography of Joy Harmon Prouty, who does highly stylized photos based on the sentiments of her clients, and I thought it would be perfect to incorporate their love of books into Quinton’s portraits. It was a little bit of a stretch for me because I think I intentionally stray away from posing babies too much — I tend to lean more towards how they are in their natural little newborn world — but I am in love with how these turned out.
And I am in love with Quinton. Good job, Kevin & Tiffany… you two are already in your element as parents. Lucky boy!!!
