Christiana… my first love // Seattle Senior Pictures Photographer

I could only muster up a very badly scanned photo of my niece Christiana from when she was about two years old, that barely does her any justice. But you get the picture. (get it?!) You got it.

What you see is my first love. Not one, but two of my first loves…

First, Christiana, the firstborn of the generation after mine & my siblings.’ I remember the day she was born, her cherub cheeks and the way she couldn’t fall asleep unless her little fists were snuggled up against those cherub cheeks. I remember the first time she focused her serious eyes on me, as if she’d already seen me before and she knew all my deepest secrets; I remember when I first saw her smile, how her big blue eyes would light up first and the rest of her face would follow suit, and her eyes so big that her eyelashes looked as if they might get entangled in her little baby eyebrows…

Second, is my early entry into my love of portraiture, and the very first time that I seriously experimented with photography. Well, I admit, the second roll from the very first time that I seriously experimented with photography. From the summer of love, as I like to call it…

So with Christiana, who has followed me around all these years and watched my every footstep as I watched hers… and with photography, that has enticed me, challenged me, hung around, returned and always been my faithful first… I commemorate another year of firsts. My first love, graduating. My other first love, returning home.

Christiana, I love you so much, more today than ever before. Congratulations on being such an amazing student, and thank you for being the best niece, cousin, daughter, sister and friend to all of us…

Jaime - Ok, totally balling. Love this. Love you both.

Cynthia - Very, very sweet. I started reading your blog aloud to Christiana then almost couldn’t get through that paragraph describing her as a baby. You have a beautiful way with words.

Her pictures are amazing and she had a great time having them taken by you. Thank you for everything sis!! Love you!

Abbey Hepner - These are so awesome Catherine! What a beauty!
