One weekend last month, I shot two weddings in two days… then ended up editing those two weddings in two days (was on a push to get them done before my birthday & our Thanksgiving trip)… so now, I thought it fitting to blog both weddings in two days.
But I will warn you right now: This one is a doozy.
This is a story about Jeremy & Lucy & their families, who we had the absolute pleasure of spending the day with leading up to their wedding. You know how you meet someone, and you just know that this is someone you want to be friends with? Something about how their entire being seems to be smiling, or their engulfing hugs make your day every time, or the way the sun seems to be shining every time they’re in the room? Well, that’s Lucy. That’s the feeling I got with her when we first met a few weeks before their wedding… and judging by all the people that I met at her bridal shower and at her wedding, she has that effect on everyone she meets. You hear people describe her as an angel, and as the best friend/aunt/daughter/etc. that one could ever hope for, as a breath of fresh air. And you hear people describe Jeremy & Lucy together as the perfect match, meant for each other… which may be an overused way to describe a couple, but believe me! These two together are like, the Real Deal. The kind of love that makes you believe in love again… the kind of couple who you can know separately, and you can know together, and they are the same people together & apart. Only more complete. Is that too much?! Am I drinking the KoolAid?! Somehow I have been swept away by the beauty and outright joy & overwhelming love of these two… I think I’m starting to hear the birds chirping, and see rainbows & unicorns! It’s that great!!!
Their wedding was in the evening at Lake Union Cafe, but they had rented the suite and a few rooms on the top floor of Hotel Deca for a few days, which is where most of their wedding day was spent. Everyone was there… Jeremy & Lucy, their families, their friends, Michael & I! It was so much fun. (and it was the perfect way for us to work together as a team… since, you know, I’m trying desperately to get Michael to work with me!) From the morning all the way into the evening, all we did was talk, eat, drink, play, maybe a little getting ready here & there, and then maybe a few picture-taking here & there as well… But mostly, it was a party. A party to celebrate love, to bring together families & loved ones, to come together with Jeremy & Lucy to be a part of their past, present & future. It was pure, happy, joyful, loving, unstressed F . U . N. The kind of celebration that you hope for, the kind of connections that you live for, and the perfect way to start a marriage…
“I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way
than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.”
