Today is our wedding anniversary, and the anniversary of the day that we first met… so it seemed like the perfect time to share some photos from our recent family road trip.
It’s easy to say that we fall back in love with each other every time we go on a road trip, and this trip was no different… it had it’s challenges, but overall it was pure heaven to be on the open road together (one road, Highway 50, was aptly named “The Loneliest Road in America”), listening to loud music, playing with the dogs, and sleeping together all cooped up in our trusty little van. We started off, not quite sure where we would go… found ourselves in Utah visiting some fellow film-loving friends and, coincidentally, the lab where these film images were processed. We made our way to Arches National Park, and relished for a few days in the absurd beauty & fascinating history of our world… continued on through Nevada, off the beaten path, committing ourselves to only drive on old highways & byways, so as to experience our nation’s history even more… we cruised through Lake Tahoe, made a pitstop to see family in Sacramento… and then finally ended our trip with a dip in Lake Shasta, picnicking on the most remote little beach, as if we owned it. The trip was fairly bittersweet, as it quickly became apparent that this would be our last trip with our sweet, ailing Golden Retriever, Chloe… but I would like to think that she enjoyed herself, and hopefully in her dying days, she will keep this trip as one of her fondest memories… just like we will.
Oh, and Happy Anniversary to the man that I love, the man of my dreams, the man with whom I plan on falling in love with over & over again… at home, on the road, and all over the globe.
