A few randoms from my recent trip to Atlanta…
I just received my film back from Atlanta… and although I was able to hit the streets & get several shots that I love, I’m also a little disappointed in how few photos I have. I know this is due in part to the fact that I take so many photos with my iphone, and post them to instagram… but I’m wondering now if my iphone habit has started to take over my life as a photographer.
Thoughts? If I have my iphone on me all the time, isn’t it just as good to use it as a camera since it’s so accessible? Or is it giving me an excuse to not take what would be considered “real” photos, and discouraging me from pushing myself creatively? Is my iphone pushing me to take more photos, or is my iphone hindering me from taking more photos?
Anyway, I digress… I will tell you that doing any manner of street photography in Atlanta is a special treat that I was not prepared for. First there’s the history & the creativity that is just coursing through the streets of Atlanta like blood through it’s veins. And then I don’t know what it is, but people seriously LOVE having their photos taken on the streets. I didn’t get turned down once, and I was all sorts of obnoxious; in fact, I actually had people walking up to me and asking if I would take their photo. It was bizarre & exhilarating all at the same time.
My trip was way too short, and I can’t wait to be there again… but for now, I will dedicate this week to the people of Atlanta, and to my friends that joined me there.
